I moved to Napa Valley in 1994 from my native country Poland. Napa’s pastoral environment has allowed me to develop a passion for sculpture. While studying ceramics at Napa Valley College, I learned to express my artistic feelings through ceramic sculpture.
My favorite subjects are human figures, either small simplified nudes or human faces from different cultures. I often make whimsical animals with human-like faces and expressions.
I enjoy hand building from coils and slabs, and then finishing with an ancient Japanese Raku firing that creates earthy tones, colors and textures on the surface. This adds much to the mood and expression of each original piece.
Each creation is a statement of my own inward feelings, yet each tiny sculpture is a universe unto itself. I seek always to empower my work with a life and breath of its own. Thus, my pieces reflect my own heart and soul frozen in a moment of time.
